Join us for a workshop on the basics of filmmaking. Workshops range from presentations, hands on activities, discussions or guest speakers. This workshop is FREE and open to all. The focus of these workshops is to encourage new and experienced filmmakers to study their craft in a friendly supportive environment. Our presentations focus on short films as a means to learn filmmaking. We encourage participants to enter their films in local and regional film festivals, as nearly all have categories for short films. Over the course of the year we discuss story and screenwriting, pre-production planning, production techniques and post production and editing. Our production workshops address lighting, sound, camera operation and movement, image composition, equipment requirements and capabilities. We meet the first Sunday of each month, but always check the calendar or our FaceBook page, for updates.
The Alabama Filmmakers Co-op was founded in 1977 and is one of the nation’s oldest filmmaking co-operative. During the year, we host film festivals, film screenings, workshops, educational activities. We host the Rocket City Short Film Festival in October of each year as a showcase for locally and regionally made short films. Our workshops go on the road, as well, at festivals such as Roger Ebert’s festival in Champaign, IL. Please feel free to join us. See you… at the movies!
