Phil Weaver |
Phil Weaver is Adjunct Assistant
Professor of Guitar at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. His guitar
studies include master classes with Charles Duncan, John Marlow, and Mario
Abril and a degree in music with honors from UAH. A 1988 winner of an Alabama
Artists' Fellowship, Mr. Weaver has performed as a solo recitalist in the
Southeast and England and he has appeared as soloist with the Huntsville Youth
Orchestra and the Alabama Youth Symphony. In addition to teaching guitar at
the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Alabama A&M University, he
maintains a private studio at the Fret Shop and is the originator and artistic
director of the City Lights and Stars Concert Series and Music at the Old
Country Church for the Burritt Museum. Mr. Weaver is also part of the guitar/piano duo Consonare with pianist Ingrid von Spakovsky. This duo has been performing together since 1980 with concerts throughout the United States and England. In October of 1996, the duo made its New York City debut at the North River Concert Series. They have played on the Hofstra University International Concert Series, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, St. Paul’s Festival the Arts in New York, Birmingham City Stages, the Music Pier at Ocean City, New Jersey, the Sundilla Acoustic Series at Auburn, and MidSummer Macon. The duo was also sponsored by the Nonsuch Guitar Society for a tour of England that included concerts in York and London plus an interview on BBC radio. In December of 1997 Consonare released a new CD on the ACA Digital Label entitled “Consonare-Guitar/Piano Duo”which received rave reviews in Fanfare Magazine and 20th Century Guitar leading to interviews on Temple Public Radio and Peach State Public Radio. |
