Guys are seriously encouraged to attend. Bring a big bag or a small bag - whatever you've jettisoned from your closet. Your clothes will be thrown into a communal pile and you'll pick out those things (not clothes you brought) that you want to use. Then you can visit the workshop artists to learn some techniques and start sewing your creation. At the end of the day everyone shares what they've done. Proceeds will be donated to support the Flying Monkey Arts Center and future Swap-O-Rama-Ramas locally and around the globe. What type of clothes to bring? Clean clothes that don't fit, aren't your style, have been worn and loved but it's their time to go, or were gifts that you never really wanted. You can bring coats, jackets, hats, or pajamas. Even shoes, gloves, belts, purses and old/mismatched/broken jewelry are usable. Please don't bring anything with paint or oil on them. Children 10 to 14 must bring one adult to stay and work closely with them. Younger children under 10 need extra, loving attention when they are learning to sew and recycle, so we'll try to plan special events for them in small groups sometime soon. Sewing machines, thread, sewing supplies, etc. will be provided. Swap-O-Rama-Rama is sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts, Burning Man, Singer, YUDU, and Goodwill Industries.
