It has been used as a platform to educate against violence and to empower women across cultures, social classes, or ethnic groups. The performance at the National Academy of Arts in Tirana, Albania was televised over 10 times from one of the major national networks, continuing to impact audiences all over the country. This production has been honored by the American College Festival as a featured performance in Savannah, GA 2003, and Jonida Beqo was awarded the Dell'Arte Diversity Award by the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington D.C. 2004. "That's man for you; blaming on his shoes the faults of his feet" - Waiting for Godot, Samuel Beckett. Based upon this premise, the stories of this show, which are real life accounts of women know by the author, echo out of their shoes; stories of child abuse, domestic violence, addictions and disabilities, of coming of age and surrendering to age, and of ultimate faith. The most important part of storytelling is hearing. Join us and actively participate. There is power in stories.

When Dutch flamenco guitarist Teye first met his future artistic partner and wife Belén in her native Sevilla, so mesmerized was he by her fiery spirit that he didn’t even notice she was beautiful—or so he declares. Over a decade later, evenings with Teye & Belén begin with Teye teasing out exotic, tantalizing tones on his guitar, catalyzing the night’s mood with his opening strum. Belén sits on the cajón (wooden box drum) sparingly tapping rhythms to accent the guitar’s melody, smoldering in her relative repose. Then she rises, flawlessly executing staccato footwork and spinning patterns, with dramatic poses punctuating her sinuous turns. Blazing incandescent with intensity and beauty, she sings, drawing you into the world of Teye & Belén.

The skill and ability of Iron Horse to transpose metal to bluegrass while maintaining the identity of the originals is exceptional. The versatility of Iron Horse is demonstrated by the more traditional flavor of their first CD, “Ridin’ Out the Storm”; and their tribute albums “Fade to Bluegrass: The Bluegrass Tribute to Metallica”, “Black & Bluegrass: The Bluegrass Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne", their bluegrass tribute to Led Zeppelin and a fourth tribute album to Modest Mouse. This versatility enables Iron Horse to perform such standards as “Rocky Top” and “Man of Constant Sorrow” with little effort, while entertaining “metal-heads” with the familiarity of the compositions of metal and pop icons – all on the same stage.
